UNITED – Update: Restrictions for Europe travel

Dear F1S Family,

Update: Restrictions for Europe travel

The United States has suspended the entry of most foreign nationals who have been in certain European countries at any point during the 14 days prior to their scheduled arrival to the U.S.

New restrictions have been added for the United Kingdom and Ireland, effective after 11:59 p.m. ET on March 16, 2020. This is in addition to:

  • Schengen Area countries, including: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland
  • People’s Republic of China
  • Islamic Republic of Iran

The proclamation does not apply to legal permanent U.S. residents or immediate family members of U.S. citizens. Any U.S. citizen or lawful U.S. permanent resident returning to the U.S. who has traveled to one of the designated countries within the previous 14 days (including connecting flights) must enter the U.S. through an approved airport, listed below. Foreign nationals who have traveled to one of the designated countries within the last 14 days will be denied permission to travel to the U.S.

We are reviewing our flight and crew schedules to comply with the new restrictions. We will continue to fly our regular schedule from Europe to the U.S. through March 20, except Houston and Denver to London, which we will suspend as of March 16.

From March 20 through the end of April, we expect to fly three daily flights to London and one daily flight to Dublin, while continuing to monitor demand and the changing restrictions. This is in addition to previously announced daily flights to Zurich, Brussels,

Paris and Amsterdam, maintaining multiple flights to Frankfurt and Munich, and four weekly flights to Lisbon. We will continue to follow the situation in Europe closely and make any changes necessary.

Approved U.S. entry airports:

  • Atlanta: Hartsfield–Jackson International Airport (ATL)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
  • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
  • Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)
